Kate Cross has been working in the field of Audiology for 17 years.

 

Kate did her clinical training at the Royal  National Throat, Nose & Ear Hospital, in Gray’s Inn Road, London, and obtained a BSc(Hons) in Clinical Science with the specialism of Audiology. She obtained a distinction in her BAAT examinations. She was recently awarded her MSc in Audiological Rehabilitation from Bristol University, with Merit.

 

Kate has been partially deaf from birth and has worn hearing aids since the age of 10years old.

She has worn both NHS and private hearing aids and can use her real life experience to get the most out of modern technology. It was this early exposure to the world of hearing loss and modern advancement in hearing technology that has inspired Kate to set up Clinical Hearing Services Ltd.

She has a practice within the Nuffield Hospital Taunton and St Alban’s Consulting Rooms Exeter. She also offers a free home visiting service to patients throughout Somerset and Devon.

 

Kate initially worked in the NHS and performed Diagnostic Audiometry and worked with both children and adults. As well as supporting the ENT department she also worked with patients with tinnitus and balance disorders.
 

Kate is a fellow of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists, a member of the British Academy of Audiologists, a member of the British Society of Audiology, and is registered with the Health Professions Council and the Council for Clinical Physiologists.

At the BSHAA Congress at the International Conference Centre, in Harrogate, Kate delivered a presentation to almost 300 delegates, entitled: "Is it a Bird? Is it a Plane? No it's a Hearing Aid!" To examine people's perception of hearing aids and how the changes in modern hearing aid technology can be portrayed in popular culture.

Kate has received her MSc in Audiological Rehabilitation from Bristol University. Kate said; "I decided to study for my Masters at Bristol University as the program puts the patient at the centre of a holistic approach to hearing care. The course has also enabled me to develop a unique multidisciplinary tinnitus management program. Continuing to expand my knowledge means that I can stay at the forefront of current and cutting edge audiology practice."
